Safety & standards

Safety is the baseline, not a goal

What is in place on every Impact Kilimanjaro climb, stated plainly, so organisers and climbers know exactly what to expect.

“Throughout the hike we felt safe, happy and confident. I cannot recommend Impact Kilimanjaro enough, and the fact that I trusted them enough to lead my daughter as well as myself speaks volumes.”

On every climb

The standard we hold ourselves to

More hands per climber

One support crew member for every two climbers, and often one-to-one on summit night, led by wilderness first aid trained guides.

Ready for any emergency

Emergency oxygen on every climb, with medical kits, communication systems and a risk assessment built around your group and itinerary.

Rested before the summit

One person per tent, a toilet tent that travels with you, and Kosovo Camp, an exclusive high camp that shortens summit night.

Fed and cared for

Hot meals throughout the climb, with dietary needs and wellbeing looked after from the pre-trek call to the final descent.

How we keep a group safe

Safety is the baseline for everything we do, not a goal we are chasing. Group leaders and organisers are kept informed with clear guidelines, so you have transparency and peace of mind before and during the trip.

Kilimanjaro is a serious mountain. What protects a group is preparation, the quality and number of people looking after it, and the discipline to make the right call on the day.

Planning

Detailed risk assessments for every expedition, with the same careful planning for charities, companies, schools and private groups.

People

Wilderness first aid trained guides and a long-standing Tanzanian ground team, chosen for how they lead a group under real mountain conditions. A support crew member for every two climbers, and often one-to-one on summit night.

Altitude

Routes built for acclimatisation, including the climb high, sleep low profile of the Machame route, and a high summit camp that shortens summit night.

Emergency readiness

Emergency oxygen provided on every climb, medical kits, communication systems and emergency plans throughout.

Wellbeing

From dietary needs to emotional support, every climber is looked after. Hot meals throughout and a toilet tent that travels with the group.

Preparation

WhatsApp and phone support on training, gear and preparation, and a pre-trek call with a kit check, tailored to each person and group.
